For the past year, the construction at the Aura Condos site has looked pretty consistent. After the retail podium was completed, level after level was added with a similar floor plate for a long time. Now, finally, a change is taking place in the building’s structure: The beginning of the curve to the building.
Aura Condos features a rectangular base of residential condominiums, but at around the 50th floor all of this changes with a floor plate that reflects a smooth and curved tower until the 78th floor. With more of an oval shape when looking from a bird’s eye view, the upper part of the building is one of the more attractive aspects of the architecture that brings power and uniqueness to the look of the condo.
Although the curved section does not begin at the same time on all exposures of the building, it is now visible on the western portion of Aura Condos, even for those located on the ground level. You can definitely see it when looking south east at the corner of Bay and College when standing a little further back from Aura Condos. In a few floors time, it will be noticeable on the east side too as the curve emerges on the eastern side.
For the best view of the construction progress, Canderel Stoneridge, the builder for Aura Condos, has installed a camera with live semi-hourly tracking that follows the developments from the top of The Residences of College Park down towards the Aura Condos construction site. At this point, Aura Condos is undoubtedly showing some definite curved floor progress (albeit with a crooked camera position – I wish someone would straighten it!).
With construction advancing at approximately 1 floor level per week, it will likely be only a matter of a couple of months before the exterior glass panelling goes up for the lower curved portions and Aura Condos heads towards completion.
