Just when you thought that the Bay/Yonge Condo corridor was through with new coffee shops, another one opens its doors – but this time it’s different. As opposed to your big chain cafes, a breath of fresh air has opened at Zavida Coffee, at the base of Aura Condos, to the northern exterior side of The Shops At Aura.
Originally a retail coffee brand selling their beans in grocery stores and other retail environments, Zavida Coffee has now opened their first cafe so that the public can try an assortment of their selection in a relaxed coffee shop setting. They also display a delicious and well-crafted collection of pastries, sandwiches, quiches and more. My personal favourites are the variety of different French chocolate croissants that they carry that will transport you back to Paris with your first bite.
Also to note are the range of organic options that come at no additional cost. The espresso beans and 2% milk they use if organic, and their decaffeination process is natural (using the Swiss Water Process), so it’s about as healthy as coffee is going to get. To cap it off, they plant one tree for every ten cups of coffee sold. How about that for environmentally conscious!
Although the location is somewhat discreet, I’m sure Zavida Coffee will blossom into its space as the Barbara Ann Scott park revitalization gets underway. The strip of concrete currently between Aura Condos and College Park is destined to became the entrance to the park in the middle of the block, which will allow for a great patio space in the summer. The park revitalization is currently scheduled to be complete by Fall of 2016.
Check out Zavida Coffee on your next stop by The Shops At Aura. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do!
